The AOA "Year of the Mentor"
As many students may know, the AOA has designated this year as "Year of the Mentor". The ACOP is embracing this concept, encouraging all students to take advantage of the learning opportunities available. One of the most significant contributions a student physician can make to their own career is the publication of research. The JAOA has dedicated a special quarterly section to papers written by students that are relevant to the Osteopathic profession, and the ACOP encourages all future pediatricians to take advantage of this opportunity to explore and publicize the use of Osteopathic Medicine in the pediatric patient. There are several areas of pediatric medicine in which Osteopathic students will be able to apply their unique knowledge and understanding of the "whole patient" concept, and this is a wonderful opportunity to publicize our unique specialty. As students of the ACOP you may use this website to preview articles you wish to publish in order to receive helpful advice and feedback. Just send your articles to rookiedoctor@yahoo.com and they will be posted. |
Spring Conference Update
The ACOP Conference brochure is available on the ACOP website at www.acopeds.org. The student organization meeting will be held on Friday, April 23rd at 5:15. Our agenda topics will include the following:
1. Maintaining a relationship with the ACOP throughouts 3rd and 4th year and into residency.
2. Involvment of the ACOPS in the larger student government organizations of the AOA, normally dominated by SOMA and the ACOFP students. The ACOPS will be making its debut with the other national organizations, and we will need a game plan for this.
3. Membership issues, club financial reports and status updates, and any other pertinent information. There will also be an open floor to introduce topics by the different student members at this point.Let's not forget STUDENT'S NIGHT OUT on Saturday night! This is our opportunity to get out and relax a little, and we have several choices to make! Plan on this as a pay-as-you-go event, but I am attempting to find funding or local discounts as a group to help out. | |
